Congratulations to Portobello Market and Golborne Road at reaching the 150 year milestone of their existence. The array of products delivered has moved on quite considerably from stalls selling milk and fresh fruit and vegetables. It now serves both local people and visitors from far and wide, delivering high quality food, drinks, fashion, literature, antiques, street food and leisure goods. It represents a fantastic melting pot of everything that is good about London.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has literally played a master stroke by commissioning the artist Fiona Hawthorne to reflect the dynamic and energetic people of the area. Thanks to the Instituto Espanol Vicente Canada Blanche, the sketches produced have found a new home for public display.

The sketches beautifully illustrate the diversity of people, colours and events that occur in the area.

My personal favourite is the simplistic black and white sketch of the photographer and his tripod.

Its worth walking by if you get the opportunity.
