Spur of the moment decision in New York
I’m attending a conference in New York and impulsively decide I would do something I’d failed to do on previous visits – see the Statue of Liberty!
Navigating my way through NYC
In the heat of a roasting hot summer’s day in Manhattan, I guide my taxi driver across his city to Battery Park before joining hundreds of other tourist lining up for what must be the world’s greatest tourist trap. I review the literature which accompanies my ticket and learn; possibly a little too late, that there are a further 4 million other souls who opt for this excursion each year.
The Statue of Liberty was smaller than I’d expected
‘Liberty Enlightening the World’ to give it its formal name is smaller than expected but the iconic bright green rusted facade stands out beautifully against the deep blue sky and is most definitely worth the effort.
